Let’s Start Planning

I Am Alive Day 107

Bob Caine here. This is my 107th day in the #iamalivechallenge. I am alive and I am doing very well. I hope you are doing very well as well. This is the 2nd day using the main topic of the post instead of ‘I Am Alive Challenge Day 999’. Soon I will move this paragraph to the bottom of the post right before the IAAC video. I just didn’t want to change everything at once. That would have been too big a shock to my system.

Guinea Pig Challenge

The last 2 posts I talked about tasks, milestones and goals and how planning how to achieve your goals is essential. So, I thought it would be productive to use my 3 goals for the Guinea Pig Challenge as examples in the planning process. Also, I look forward to receiving your comments on how the plan or the process can be improved. All comments not only welcomed but encouraged. Please help me achieve my goals and I will do whatever I can to help you with yours.

You will remember that these goals were determined by writing down your 10 goals everyday for 2 weeks without looking at any of the previous days. The top 3 goals were those that occurred with the highest priorities most often. My top 3 goals were

  1. Get 10 Prosperity Management System Students by January 1, 2021. Prosperity Management System (PMS) is a unique program that you can use as it is when you join, you can completely change it to suit your needs or anywhere in between.
  2. Get this blog internet ready. If you look around this website, you will see that it is very plain. I have been using it to create posts for posting on the Hive blockchain. I will continue to send all my posts to the Hive but I want an attractive website that people want to visit.
  3. 100 email series in my autoresponder. I use Aweber as my autoresponder. Aweber has many features to enhance your AR capabilities; e.g., they provide a way to transfer members from one campaign to another. This will allow me to send an initial set of emails tailored to where the person came from and then connect them to a common email series. I think this is a very powerful feature and I want to take advantage of it. So this goal is not only creating 100 emails but learning the capabilities of Aweber.

Now I need to plan how I am going to achieve those goals by developing tasks and milestones. Why don’t we start with goal #3, creating 100 emails for my list. Let me list the tasks and milestones that immediately come to mind.

  • Learn how to connect campaigns in Aweber
  • Develop a list of content topics for campaigns
  • Write 2 emails/day

That is all I can think of at the moments. I would say that the list definitely needs to expand and be refined. What other tasks can you think of that I need to create my 100 emails for my autoresponder? Your ideas are greatly appreciated.

Even More Verbose

For a long time I have been amazed by all the pieces parts involved with web development. I talked about it in yesterdays post. Another thought I have had about web development for a long time is it is very verbose. Today I learned that it is even more verbose than I thought. According to the Udemy course, I am currently working my way through, up until approximately 2009, websites were developed for viewing on PCs and then modified for viewing on a cell phone. We probably all have experienced sites on our phones that look terrible. If you look at the same site on a pc, it probably looks fine. After 2009, websites were viewed more and more on cell phones. The majority of viewing is done on cell phones today. So now the best way to develop a responsive website is to start with cell phone version and

Managing the Pieces Parts

I have said for years that internet development has too many “pieces parts”. I had no idea how many pieces parts there were. What lead me to this revelation was comments in the UDemy course I am taking on WordPress Theme design. I am almost done with the course. I was in the section where you learn how to upload the website, Fictional U, that I have been working on to the internet. The course teaches 2 methods. The instructor says that the first method is the easy way but is not good for frequent updates. The second method takes a while to set up but then becomes very straight forward. He recommends that you only use the second method if you think you are going to make frequent changes AND you know GITHUB. Since this isn’t a GITHUB course, the lesson using this method won’t make sense if you

Plugins to the Rescue

Guinea Pig Challenge Today I spent the majority of my time on 2 things. The first is related to my goals peripherally and the second is directly related I hope. I will explain the ‘I hope’ part shortly. So now it is much later than usual getting my IAAC done. I spent most of the morning working on making my office usable. I spent much more time than I meant to, especially since this is on peripherally related to my goals. It will be a better place to work. I am almost there. I just have to get the desk cleaned off. Right now it is covered with unmatched chargers and parts of 2 wireless phone sets. It definitely shows my pack rat side. This afternoon I started investigating WordPress plugins for what I thought might have to be programmed. I found plugins for like/dislike counts, custom post types, and
